I think I mentioned it before on these pages that I didn’t have any degree in Anthropology. These past days I have been trying to make myself into an anthropologist. I have been reading/ reading about the classics. I was able to find some books by Radcliff Brown and Herbert Spencer, and since I am interested in social structures I have been trying to read stuffs about social anthropologists who focused on social structures. I got a book by Lucy Mair, “Introduction to Social Anthropology”, from our library. It is a really good book; it introduces the major concerns of Anthropology in each of its chapters, such that when you read on say kinship in the book you get the basic introduction and then you can move to more comprehensive books on the topic. That way you are not lost in strange terminologies as might be the case if you picked up books that assume a level of familiarity with the concepts.
Tomorrow I start my German classes. I have been promised that it is going to be really intensive. That is expected anyway, for if one is to immerse oneself in a language, and to have a high level of competence in six months, one would not have any space to breath; I almost said think…. Really, it could be that hard.
Ok, more later.

I got to Halle two days ago. The flight was ok. I first got to Frankfurt and then changed planes to Leipzig/Halle Airport. From the airport I took a train to Halle. Don’t you worry, I will keep you all updated about what is going on.
